​The ACRPS held the Fifth Annual Conference on the Social Sciences and Humanities (2015-2016) in Doha from March 12-14, 2016. The two themes of the conference were also the themes for the Arab Prize for the Social Sciences and Humanities for the Encouragement of Academic Research. These were: “The Issue of Freedom in Contemporary Arab Thought” and “The Arab City: Challenges of Urbanization in Societies in Transition.” The organizing committee received 107 research proposals on the Arab City, 32 of which were accepted, including those for presentation at the conference.
