Trends in Sociological Research in the Sultanate of Oman: The Case of Master’s Theses

Abstract

This study works on a stock of sociology master's theses that were defended at the Department of Sociology and Social Work of Sultan Qaboos University from 1993 to 2022. It identifies sociological research trends in the Sultanate of Oman by looking at the most commonly used methodological approaches and theoretical frameworks. The article tracks possible future trends for sociological research in light of certain indicators reached through the analysis and interpretation of data collected via a survey of 76 master’s theses completed at the Department of Sociology and Social Work.
