The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) has published the twenty fourth issue of its quarterly peer-reviewed journal Omran, a journal dedicated to the social sciences and humanities. The Spring 2018 edition includes the following studies: “History of Iraq and Iraqi Society: Between Hanna Batatu and Ali al-Wardi” by Dina Rizk Khoury, “Religious Reform in Moroccan Villages: The State and Assigned Islamic Jurists in Tiznit” by Abderrahman Fadili and “Syrian Women Migrants in Tunisia: The Experience of Forced Migration and the Difficulty of Settling Down” by Soumaya Abdellatif.

The Translation and Book Reviews section includes a translation by Thaer Deeb of “The Migrant’s Time” by Ranajit Guha. The Discussions Section comprises a review by Mohammed Abdul-Hai Yahya Issa of the World Inequality Report 2018. 

In the Book Review section, there are five reviews: Mohammed Bekkaye reviews Foucault’s  book The History of Sexuality IV: Confessions of the Flesh, Abdou Moussa reviews Revolution without Revolutionaries: Making Sense of the Arab Spring, Khalil Al Anani reviews “‘State of the Caliphate: Dismantling the Ideological, Symbolic and Political structure of the Islamic State”, Hazim Rahahleh reviews The Unmaking of Arab Socialism and Khaled Menna reviews “Systemic Corruption and the Totalitarian State: Algeria’s Case 1962-2016”.

In the Conference Report Section, Mohamed Abi Samra wrote the proceedings of the conference on “Individualism, Islamism and Democracy: A Sociological Reading of the Transformations in the Arab World”, held at the ACRPS on March 21, 2018.
