​The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies have published the 44th issue (Spring 2023) of the quarterly peer-reviewed journal Omran, dedicated to the social sciences. This edition contains the following studies: “The Political Culture of Nubian Youth in Egypt: The Nubian Movement Towards the Issue of Return as a Case Study” by Ahmed Abdelmawgoud Elshenawy; “Political Culture, Social Cleavages, and Democracy: Algeria Case” by Abdelkader Abdelali; “Trends in Sociological Research in the Sultanate of Oman: The Case of Master's Theses” by Osman Mohamed Osman Ali, Tahar Saoud & Hosni Ibrahim Abdelazim; “Frankincense in the Sultanate of Oman: An Anthropological Study” by Hajer Harrathi. 

Also provided is a translation of Simon Susen’s “Is a Reconciliation between Pierre Bourdieu and Luc Boltanski Possible? Towards a Dialogue between Critical Sociology and the Pragmatic Sociology of Critique” by Mohammed Mourchid. Two book reviews are also featured: Othmane Leguachmi 's review of Pre-Modernity: Efforts to Envision Arab Social Sciences by Abdellah Hammoudi; and Hassane Hjij's review of A Genealogical History of Society by Miguel A Cabrera.
