​The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies have published the 49th issue (Summer 2024) of the quarterly peer-reviewed journal Omran, dedicated to the social sciences. This issue contains the following studies: “Imagining Economic Liberation in Palestine: Challenges and Opportunities” by Leila Farsakh; “The Political Economy of Smuggling: Trade in the West Bank Under the Israeli Border Regime” by Walid Habbas; “Identity, Anxiety, and War: Hezbollah and the Gaza Tragedy” by Adham Saouli; “Women Social Workers Working in Lebanon's Syrian Refugee Context: Challenges and Coping Mechanisms in a Multilayered Crisis” by Rania Mansour; and “Mapping the Literary: A Spatial Reading of Hilal Chouman’s Kana Ghadan” by Farah Z. Aridi.

Also provided is a translation of Robert D. Benford & David A. Snow’s “Framing Processes and Social Movements: An Overview and Assessment” by Thaer Deeb. Two book reviews are also featured: Faouzi Boukhriss & Malika Mouhti’s review of Rural Morocco: A Socio-Anthropological Dictionary by Hassan Rachik; and Mohamed Oubella’s review of Rooted Outsiders, Intersubjective Reflexivity: Towards an Anthropology of Hospitality by Othmane Leguachmi.
