The Impact of Social and Solidarity Economy Initiatives on Rebuilding the Economic Culture of Socially Vulnerable Groups: A Case Study in Tunisia

Abstract

​Based on the analysis of qualitative data collected in a set of semi-guided questionnaires targeting founding members of different Tunisian social and solidarity economy initiatives that emerged after January 2011, this article discusses the impact of social and solidarity economy initiatives on rebuilding the economic culture of socially vulnerable groups.  This analysis demonstrates to what extent these initiatives succeeded in grouping the target groups around a new cultural ground that confronts the cultural ground imposed by the capitalist market.
