​This article presents an initial view stemming from the current facts and ambiguities in Syria to draw an outline of its divisions in an effort to understand what the author terms “the parallel society,” that is the government society parallel to people’s society, and explain some of its features. The author makes a singular analytical contribution that expresses his perspective and Omran hopes to encourage debate and stimulate research on subjects of the period.
