This study investigates the similarities between Standard Arabic and Euphrates Dialect on both the phonetic and semantic level. It starts by analyzing the phonetic aspects of the dialect, before investigating the changes it has undergone as well as the reasons behind these changes and then comparing it to other Arabic dialects in Syria. It also examines the semantic connotations of the lexical items of Euphrates Dialect in comparison with their meaning in Standard Arabic, indicating their semantic differences. The study relies on different textual and oral data such as (relatively) open-ended interviews.
