The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies have published the 46th issue (Autumn 2023) of the quarterly peer-reviewed journal Omran, dedicated to the social sciences. This issue contains the following studies: “Toward a Dialogical Sociology” by Sari Hanafi; “War and State Formation in Europe (1300-1800): Revisiting the Bellicist Theory” by Sidahmed Goudjili; “Women and the Iraqi Uprising: Inequality, Space, and Feminist Perspectives” by Asmaa Jameel Rasheed and Zahra Ali; “Uprising Amidst Liminality: A Study of the 2021 Karameh (Dignity) Uprising of Palestinians inside the Green Line” by Khaled Anabtawi; “The Biopolitical Control of the Bodies and Motherhood of Palestinian Wives of Political Detainees” by Ferdoos Abed Rabo Al-Issa.
The issue also includes a discussion titled “Eastern Christianity in Academic Research between the Colonial and Post-Colonial State” by Natalie Salameh. Also provided is a translation of John Rawls’s “Basic Structure as Subject” by Abdellah Kessabi. Two book reviews are featured: Mohammed Mourchid’s review of Social History of Girls' Education in Morocco: Pre-colonial period 1860-1912 by Aïcha Belarbi; and Haifa Souilmi’s review of Ben Ali’s Tunisia: Power and Contention in an Authoritarian Regime by Anne Wolf.
